This week my mom finally got the hip replacement surgery that she's been needing for the last several years. Her bone was degenerating and it was to the point where it was actually tearing itself when she puts weight on it or sits or breathes or exists.
The surgery was a really scary one. They were saying she only had a 50% chance of surviving the surgery but she was in so much pain that she had to give it a shot. They canceled the surgery no less than 10 times because of other infections or illnesses. (She is already immunocompromised so they weren't willing to add issues to the surgery when her risk was already so high. Frustrating as hell but we understood it.)
She was in tremendous pain every day and I'm so glad that there's maybe some light at the end of the tunnel here. She's an incredible lovely human and she's one of my best and closest friends. Nothing is real until I talk to my mom or my sister about it.
So she's going to be in the hospital for probably a while because the surgery was complicated and she's got so many health issues to contend with at the same time. So thanks to everybody on twitter and facebook for being there, sending prayers, and sending love. It was nice to be surrounded by people just caring about my mom.
